Week 5 Update

The tables are finished! The tables are done which will make completing the maps much easier with all of the data in one table for counties and one for cities. There are 62 counties in New York and I have data for 994 cities.  I did have some trouble when joining my tables to the attribute table of counties or cities, but I realized that some of the column headings had spaces. I had to go back and make sure I got all of the spaces deleted. Another obstacle I had to figure out was the county St.  Lawrence, the table I made in excel had a period after St. but the one in the ESRI county attribute table did not, so when I went to join them, the St. Lawrence data appeared as NoData. After figuring out the tables, I should be set to make final maps of population density. More maps to come!

  1. Kori-- thats awesome that you've found all that data! So the population density change throughout the years is on a county basis, but will also show city population density change as well? Seems nicely detailed. Also, are you constructing the population densities for each year as separate layers within the same map? Just wondering how you're planning on organizing your info.
